I always wanted to be rational. I mean, I have always been trying to decide the right decision using my brain, not my heart. For my study time which is a large part of my break time, almost everytime I decided to read books about my major or job, which means the software development or management. This is about the professional ethics. You’re getting a salary from your company because the company expects a lot from you, and this expectation is included in the contract. So I have been doing my best to meet what the company wanted from me. However, in Korea, people are doing wrong. They just don’t understand the vocational ethics.
When I went to the office workshop, someone, who is in charge of the international business, told me that “You should speak English fluently if you want to get a success in Korea. I didn’t realize when I was young but it’s true. Koreans usually make a lot of someone who has an English language skills”.
All right. I knew that. I knew the people ususally put their focus on improving their foreign language skills, especially English. But I hoped that the colleagues around me were little different. That’s the reason why I was a little bit frustrated by what he said.
Anyway, this experience made me to accept the reality and start to get lessons of English conversation. I think it’s foolish that the time you can spend on the more productive tasks is just being wasted on learning the foreign language which is not required for the real life.
